World’s Largest Speed Bump // Range Rover Evoque
An experiential idea that created the most viewed Range Rover content ever.
Range Rover Evoque is the city-going version of Range Rover. But what many don’t realise is that beneath its compact exterior it still has that legendary Land Rover capability.
The Range Rover client set us a challenge, could we make a really engaging social film, that would get lots of views and likes, whilst showcasing the ‘urban capability’ of the vehicle – and with only a £50k budget.
The resulting idea was simple. We build the world’s largest speed bump – in London – a city already plagued by them – and the chagrin of all London motorists. And let the carnage unfold for real.
We got to work with the JLR engineers and built a speed bump to the exact approach, break-over and departure angles of the Evoque – so that no other car could get over it.
Very few directors wanted to help us because the production money was so small. We spent most of the money constructing the speed bump and renting 5 cameras and countless Go-Pros so we could create the hidden camera approach. We shot with hidden cameras in Southwark, the only place we could get permission to build it – in the whole of London – right outside the council offices that approve film shoots.
The film racked up 4 million views on YouTube in the first two weeks alone. It currently has 113 million views and is still the most viewed Range Rover content – ever.

The Build
Most of the production money went into the planning and building of the speed bump, so we made a little time-lapse video as it was erected at 6am, to the shock of local residents. Rumour has it, the speed bump now lives on Gerry McGovern’s driveway.
